Two guys, a hunch, and a lot of hard work
In 1995, Fred and Tracy left a family business to strike out on their own. They didn't have a plan — just the drive to build something. Storage kept coming up as an idea, and at first they were skeptical. "Who would rent a storage unit?"
Once they started looking into it, the demand was real and the numbers made sense. So they took the leap. They built their first facility on Buena Vista Road in Columbus, GA — a property Storage Xxtra still manages today, 30 years later.
From that single building in Columbus, the company grew steadily — expanding into the Atlanta metro around 2007 and continuing to grow to 13 facilities across Georgia. Today, the second generation of the family runs the company, carrying forward the same principles Fred and Tracy built it on.
